Shepherd Veterinary Clinic is a full service veterinary clinic offering both wellness and non-well care. Our wellness program includes annual examinations, vaccination against diseases that occur in the area and managing medications to prevent diseases. A yearly exam establishes your pet as an “active patient” , which gives you access to special privileges such as technician appointments for certain services (nail trims and follow-up booster vaccinations) and vaccination clinics for doctor prescribed follow up vaccinations only. They are held on the first Tuesday and third Thursday of each month between 7pm - 8pm. To encourage public safety for all members of the community, the rabies vaccination only may be administered at the vaccination clinic to an animal without an “active patient” status. Please understand that without the yearly exam our doctors do not have up to date information regarding your pets overall health required for the dispensing of heartworm and other medications for disease prevention and good health.
Our non-well service provides a full array of diagnostics in order to determine your pets illness. Diagnostics include radiology, in-house laboratory and availability to ultrasound. Shepherd Veterinary Clinic has special equipment to measure blood pressure, oxygen levels and even interocular pressures. A full pharmacy allows our doctors to dispense the medications you need to care for your companions.
Our kennel is unique in that it is smaller than a commercial kennel, therefore, we are able to provide personalized care. We only kennel animals that we know as clinic patients. As a result we are able to manage highly specialized care while you are away. The dogs in our care are hand walked a minimum of three times a day, giving them extra time with people and some time outside to get the fresh air.
